Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Living Word Trust ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains in plain language what information we collect when you use our website, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over your own data.
This policy is written in compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the DPDP Rules, 2025, which came into effect on 13 November 2025.
Plain-language summary: We collect only your name, phone number, email address, and city. We use this solely to send you the eBook you requested and, occasionally, to let you know when new books in the series are available. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any commercial purpose.
Who We Are
For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Living Word Trust is the Data Fiduciary — meaning we decide how and why your personal data is used.
- Organisation: Living Word Trust
- Purpose: Distribution of free Christian literature for personal reading and study
- Contact for data matters: privacy@living-word.org
What Data We Collect
When you register to download an eBook, we collect:
- First and last name — to address your registration

We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as caste, religion, health information, or financial details), and we do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any form of behavioural monitoring.
Why We Collect It — Our Purpose
Under the DPDP Act, we may only process your data for a specific, clearly stated purpose. We collect your data for the following purposes only:
- To process your eBook download request and provide access to the requested materials
- To send you a confirmation of your registration by email
- To notify you when additional books in the series become available and related offers
- To respond to enquiries you send us through our contact form
- To provide customer support
We will never use your data for marketing unrelated to our book series, targeted advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.
Your Rights Under Indian Law
The DPDP Act gives you clear rights over your personal data. Here is what you are entitled to:
You can ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you and receive a summary of it.
You can ask us to correct or update any inaccurate or incomplete data we hold about you.
You can ask us to delete your personal data. We will do so promptly, unless we are required to retain it by law.
You may withdraw your consent to us processing your data at any time. Withdrawal will not affect the legality of past processing.
If you have a concern about how we handle your data, you have the right to raise a complaint with us and receive a response.
If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@living-word.org. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no charge to you.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We retain your registration information for as long as necessary to provide the service you requested and to comply with any applicable legal obligations. In practice, this means:
- eBook registration records are retained for up to 3 years from the date of registration
- Contact form messages are retained for up to 1 year unless ongoing correspondence requires otherwise
- When we no longer need your data, we delete or anonymise it securely
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for commercial purposes. Your data may only be shared in these limited situations:
- With a trusted email delivery service provider (acting as a Data Processor on our behalf) solely for the purpose of sending your confirmation email
- Where we are required to do so by Indian law or by order of a competent authority
Any service providers we use are contractually bound to process your data only on our instructions and to keep it secure.
Data Security
We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse — consistent with our obligations under the DPDP Act. In the unlikely event of a personal data breach that could harm you, we will notify both you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
Children's Data
Our website and materials are intended for adults and are not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, please contact us immediately at privacy@living-word.org and we will delete it.

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
